Singapore Youth Photographers Convention

The Singapore Youth Photo Convention will take place this coming Saturday at ACS(I) and almost everyone in our SAJC Photographic Society is going; its compulsory actually.

Itinerary:
8.30-9.30: Reporting Time
9.30-10.15: Introduction about the event. A talk by Mr. Triston Yeo. (http://www.tri-angles.sg/)
10.15-11.00: Canon photography equipment display. Exhibition of ACS (I) student photographers’ works alongside some professional works. Light refreshment (Tea)
11.00-12.00: Grouping of participants in 4s or 5s + Competition Briefing.
12.00: Announcement of the theme. Start of the competition.
12.00-15.30: Competition around Singapore
15.30: Report back at ACS(Independent).
15.30-16.00: Submission at Computer Labs.
16.00-17.30: Judging process. Participants can have a free A4 printing of their photo. Feedback session. Goodies to be distributed.
17.30-18.00: Prizes presentation.

I just hope to have fun.

I found myself working with complete strangers [a RJC Photographic Society Chairman, a Singapore Polytechnic Engineering Student and a secondary school girl from Cedar Girls']. I thought we got along pretty well. Like most teams, we were at a disadvantage. It was hard to express our disagreements with one another’s ideas, out of respect and fear of offending the person. It came as no surprise when about 70% of the teams that won, consisted of teammates that knew each other. The organizers had this strange policy of “People who signed up early….randomly grouped, people who signed up on the day itself…… form their own groups”.

All in all, it was a good learning experience.

Theme was [Macabre] and I took only 7 personal photos, all were irrelevant. Can’t help it. You just can’t squeeze 3 photographers to take the picture of a subject without accidentally including someone else’s arm in it.

Description:

Picture taken back in 2001, before I took up photography of course, which was in 2009. Owner of the car also owns the building behind. That also explains why he could park his car like that.
